Keywords:
Eelam, Diaspora's Tamil Literature, Studies, Critical PerspectiveAbstract
Fearing the war situation in Eelam, many Tamils migrated to India and other European and North American countries after the 1970s. These included intellectuals and writers who lived in the diaspora and produced creative literary works known as migrant literature. Research efforts on such Eelam refuge Tamil literature have been carried out at many sites. These reviews often reflect themes such as life experiences, cultural practices, social problems, political-economic risks, refugee life with homeland memory, international outlook, new contextual expressions, women's awareness and liberation, Tamil literature development status of immigrants, etc. These review efforts have been carried out as spare essays, reviews, and studies defining and overviewing different periods in different fields of literature from different viewpoints. Nevertheless, scarce research efforts have been carried out comprehensively in the region. So far, there has not been any detailed and accurate analysis of Eelam refugees’ Tamil literature, such as poems, short stories, novels, essays, etc. Therefore, to address the shortcomings found in Eelam refugees’ Tamil literary studies, the researchers should carry out new-oriented, critical theoretical research efforts. For this review, the books, articles, research papers, special magazines, etc., published as Eelam Asylum Tamil literature research efforts have been used as the primary sources, and the descriptive (descriptive study) and critical approaches have been followed.
