Kamban’s View on Politics

Abstract

Kamban chosen Politics while he wrote his masterpiece Ramayana and made ex-plicit his political view point through depicting the characters in the epic. This idea permeates when he describes the three Monarchs hailing from Kosalam, Kishkintham and Sri Lanka. He analyses the pros and cons of these three administrative set ups, In this process, the objective of this paper is to establish Kamban’s idea of an ideal govemment and Political strategy. Kamban does this through the character sketches of Dasarathan, Vaali and Ravana. Kamban had the idea of an ideal govemment and wanted to correct the ways of Administration.

கம்பன் தான் புனைந்த மாபெரும் படைப்பாகிய இராமாயணத்தில் தனது அரசியல் பார்வையை அதில் தோன்றும் தாபாத்திரங்களின் வாயிலாக மிக வெளிப்படையகாகச் சித்தரித்துள்ளார். இவரது அரசியல் கருத்துகள் இராமாயணத்தில் வரும் கோசலம் கிட்கிந்தை, இலங்கை ஆகிய மூன்று முடியாட்சிகளைத் தொட்டு வெளிப்படுகின்றது. இவர் இம்மூன்று முடியாட்சிகளின் நிர்வாகத்தில் உள்ள குறை நிறைகளை ஆய்வுசெய்கிறார். இதன் அடிப்படையில் இக்கட்டுரையின் நோக்கமானது கம்பனின் சிறந்த அரசாங்கம் மற்றும் அரசியல் கோட்பாட்டுச் சிந்தனையை முன்வைப்பதாக அமைகிறது. கம்பன் இதனைத் தசரதன், வாலி, இராவணன் ஆகிய கதாபாத்திரங்களின் மூலமாக முன்வைக்க முனைந்துள்ளார். இதன் மூலம் கம்பன் சிறந்த அரசாங்கத்தை உருவாக்குவதற்கான வழியையும் நிர்வாகத்தில் உள்ள தவறுகளைத் திருத்தவும் முனைந்துள்ளமை இக்கட்டுரையில் வெளிப்படுத்தப்பட்டுள்ளது.
