Malaysian Journal of Science (MJS), launched in 1972, is the official peer-reviewed open access journal of the Faculty of Science, Universiti Malaya. From 2020 to 2023, the regular publication of issues occurred three times a year, in February, June, and October. Starting in 2024, the publication frequency has increased to quarterly, with issues released in March, June, September, and December. MJS is indexed in Scopus, Google Scholar, Chemical Abstracts Service Database,  ASEAN Citation Index (ACI), EBSCOhost, and MYCite.

MJS is a renowned journal that serves a growing readership, focusing on the latest developments in various scientific fields including Biological Science, Bioinformatics and Computational Biology,  Mathematics Science, Chemistry, Physics, and Geology. It features original research, review articles, short communications, and case studies that are of importance to the scientific community.
