Analisis Pengaruh Falsafah al-Sufasta’iyyah dalam Filem Mentega Terbang Menurut Perspektif Falsafah Islam dan Ilmu Kalam

The philosophy of sophists is a thought that was started by a pre-Socratic philosopher named Protagoras (d. 420 BC). This thought became an epidemic of thought for the Greek civilization in understanding the concept of truth and the essence of thing. The sophists thought brought by Protagoras became the foundation stone for the philosophy of skepticism and also relativism thus urging the Greek philosophers to came up with science of logic to prove the reality. Nevertheless, this thought is still found in the past and present. On November 28, 2021, a controversial film titled Mentega Terbang was shown and it touched the sensitivity of Islam in particular. Therefore, this article was written to analyze and criticize the influence of that philosophy on this film through the method of literature review and data content analysis from the film from the perspective of islamic philospohy and knowledge of kalam. The results of the study found the elements and influence of sophists philosophy on this film despite with new variations and narrative. This indirectly proves the role of the knowledge of kalam in facing the doubts and threats of faith in today's age.

This article specifically analyzes the book al-Hikam regarding sufi personalities and their differences compared to personalities according to psychology. The focus of the psychological study aligns with sufism in terms of the soul and its behaviors, however sufism takes a step further by encompassing studies related to the essence of the spirit. From the epistemological perspective, psychology is centered on the investigation of mental problems including personality disorders and mental illnesses. Meanwhile, sufism solely discusses about the heart, the process of purifying the heart, recognizing Allah, and the development of human character and soul. The background of the article is to seek solutions to contemporary 'mental issues' where the psychotherapeutic methods utilized by psychologists have not been entirely successful in dealing with mental health problems. Hence, the knowledge of Sufism is considered as an alternative to psychotherapeutic methods. Additionally, an individual's personality also shapes their future. In psychology, personality refers to a person's character or behavior when coping with situations in life and finding solutions. The question addressed in this study is how an individual's personality influenced by sufi elements can empower their own personality. Moreover, the prominence of Ibn Ataillah and his magnum opus, al-Hikam which makes a substantial positive impact on the development of personality.

Assessment of the Critical Period Hypothesis among Adult Fulbe Adamawa in the Traditional Way of Learning the Glorious Quran

The CPH has been one of the key areas in Applied Linguistics and Second Language Acquisition (SLA). With the inconclusive debate on the matter among scholars and researchers, this paper attempts to investigate it among adult Fulbe Adamawa in the traditional way of learning the Glorious Qur’an. Data were collected using interview and reading test. Results showed that CPH was a reality. But contrary to the opinions of the mainstream researchers, the Qur’an maintains that human being denigrates mentally and physically as he grows with no specification to puberty period. Wrong methodology and CPH were identified as the barrier to nativism in learning the Qur’an among adult Fulbe Adamawa. Using L1 (Fulfulde) in teaching the Qur’an is not the best method. The study recommends the use of the best methodology which is teaching the Qur’an in the Arabic language and Arabic alphabets.

This study provides a concise history of New Atheism, highlighting its departure from traditional atheistic perspectives. The study identifies five defining features of New Atheism after exploring into the subtle differences. These include its recent emergence and widespread media coverage, the adoption of an outspokenly critical stance towards religion, the promotion of scientism and rationalism as intellectual pillars, and the advocacy for secularism in societal frameworks. Furthermore, the study unfolds with an in-depth examination of the movement's key figures, commonly known as "The Four Horsemen" - Sam Harris, Daniel Dennett, Christopher Hitchens, and Richard Dawkins. This study aims to improve the clarity of the ideological roots of New Atheism and its impact on contemporary debates about faith, reason, and secularism by examining their individual contributions.

The Network of Kiai and Rulers of Surakarta Palace in Islamic Education and Literacy in the 20th Century Ad: A Study of the Wiryadiningrat al-Qur'an Manuscript

This article examines the network of Kiai (the priest in Islam) and rulers of Surakara palace in the early 20th century AD, under the leadership of Pakubuwono X, in the world of Islamic education and literacy. So far, studies of the Surakarta palace have been limited to social, historical and political studies. In fact, the palace has a network with Kiai, not only in the political context, but also in Islamic education and literacy. The entrance used to analyze this issue is the Wiryadiningrat Qur'an manuscript. This manuscript is chosen because it is not only a religious text, but also part of historical, social and cultural representations as well as relations between subjects that have a social and political basis. Evidence is revealed that Wiryadiningrat, the owner of this Qur'anic manuscript, is a palace official and political adviser to Pakubuwono X. Pakubuwono X, with his authority, has initiated the birth of a modern madrasa (Islamic school) called Mamba'ul Ulum, encouraging the Kiai in this madrasa and the Head of the palace to write Islamic religious texts as learning materials. Moreover, he also provides financial assistance in the operation of the modern madrasa and Islamic literacy. This article shows that the involvement of Kiai in the Surakarta palace in the early 20th century AD is not only in the interest of political legitimacy, but also in the context of developing Islamic education and literacy.

An Examination of Aishah Abd al-Rahman bint al-Shati’s Approach to Exegesis of The Quran

In the last few decades, bint al-Shati’s literary approach to exegesis of the Quran has received some scholarly attention being a female exegete of the Quran. Her approach to the interpretation of the Quran shows that her information is hardly from the traditional exegeses. Thus, this paper seeks to examine her various approaches to tafsir to expose her efforts as a modern exegete. Her approaches include but are not limited to the meaning of Quranic words, use of poem, use of conclusion, presentation of the number of times a word appears, use of ilm Qira’at, philological and topical approaches. The paper employed historical and analytical methods of research. The historical method helped in accounting for the biography of bint al-Shati while the analytical method assisted in explaining each of her approaches to tafsir with extracts from her tafsir. The paper revealed that her approach to tafsir is a combination of both traditional and literary study of the Quran with more focus on the former than the latter. It, therefore, concluded that female Muslims should intensify more efforts in the dissemination of Islamic knowledge in a contemporaneous way without neglecting the traditional way.

This research focuses on an analytical study, specifically the impact of Quranic readings on Arabic grammar, and its application in surah al-Jumu'ah. The study consists of four sections, starting with the introductory section, which discusses the linguistic and figurative meanings in surah al-Jumu'ah. The first section elucidates the relationship between grammar and Quranic readings, while the second section explores the nouns mentioned in surah al-Jumu'ah from the perspective of grammarians and reciters. The third section examines the verbs mentioned in surah al-Jumu'ah and their interpretation by grammarians and reciters. Finally, the fourth and last section presents the researcher's analysis of the letters mentioned in the surah from the perspective of grammarians and reciters. The study concludes that grammatical factors have a significant influence on Quranic readings. It also highlights specific verbs mentioned in surah Al-Jumu'ah, are yahmilu, hummiluw, infadhuw. The study recommends that grammarians and linguists adjust their rules and derive them from the methodology of the Noble Quran. Additionally, it advises readers to recite the Quran in the narration transmitted by the companions without being concerned about deviating from analogy (qiyas) or adhering to it.

This study dealt with the situation of Sheikh Muhammad Abduh School, may God Almighty have mercy on him, which became famous as the al-Manar School of interpretation of the Holy Qur’an with opinion. And if al-Manar School was known for its intellectual orientation, it is assumed that it would move powerfully towards interpretation by opinion based on linguistic sciences. Humanity and nature, but the research shows that this use was within the limits of the curriculum Al-Hidai in interpretation, which focuses more on purposes and objectives than on means and tools, they used these sciences in interpretation as means to understand the purposes and did not tend to digress in them, and on the other hand, despite the clarity of the theoretical approach of the school, and the practical follow-up to it, the researchers did not exclude violations of it in several placements, the most influential in most of them were following the rational approach, and submitting it to Text. It is worthy of this experiment to follow its example, with its positive aspects, while avoiding the intakes contained in the research.
